Fillings
A dental filling is used to repair a tooth damaged by decay or minor fractures. When bacteria create a cavity, the affected area must be cleaned and restored to prevent pain, infection, and further damage.
Most modern fillings are made from composite resin, a strong tooth-colored material that bonds to the tooth and blends naturally with your smile. You may also hear about amalgam (silver) fillings, which have been used for many years. While they are durable, they do not match the natural color of teeth, so many dental offices, including ours, prefer composite fillings for a more natural and conservative result.
What to expect:
The area is numbed for comfort, decay is gently removed, and the filling material is placed, shaped, and polished. Treatment is quick and restores the tooth’s strength, function, and appearance.
Regular dental checkups help detect cavities early so they can be treated easily and comfortably with a filling.
